Welded planters
The Montana planter is produced in-house by our own craftsmen. These planters are fully welded and consist of one piece. This is in contrast to our other corten steel planters, which are modular.
With some Montana planter models you can choose whether you want the planter with or without a bottom plate. In those cases, when you choose the option with bottom plate, it will be provided with feet of 1,5 cm height.
Material
These planters are made of high quality Corten-A steel plate. This type of metal has the unique property of forming a very dense oxide skin (rust layer). Rusting through is therefore impossible. Because of the dense oxide skin, the deeper lying material is shielded from oxygen, thus the oxidation is strongly delayed while the corrosion continues. The Corten steel planter is delivered untreated, in the gray metallic color. The brown/orange rust layer forms within two to six months, no treatment is required. During the rusting process, the planter may come off. Corten steel is a metal alloy consisting of iron with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium added. You can read everything you want to know about corten steel in our Corten steel Guide.
