Corten steel is a metal composition composed of iron, copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium. The material is known as highly weather-resistant steel. This is why Corten steel is often used in gardens and other outdoor areas. Another characteristic of Corten steel is its typical brown-orange rust color. This color develops naturally, over time. You get the pedestal delivered in a gray metal color and after two to six months a rust layer will appear naturally. The lifespan of Corten steel is so long because the first layer of corrosion prevents further corrosion, making maintenance very low. The longer the pedestal stands, the more beautiful it becomes. Maintaining your Corten steel plinth

Benefit: Corten steel requires very little maintenance. This is because the corrosion layer protects the steel from further rusting. Think of it as a natural protective layer. Therefore, you do not have to treat the Corten steel pedestal yourself. We do recommend that you regularly clean the pedestal from green deposits or garden waste. This is best done with lukewarm water and a soft brush, without chemical cleaning agents!
