What is a corten steel step tile?

These step tiles, also known as step stones, are made of corten steel that are made in-house. They can actually be placed anywhere in the garden; in the gravel, the lawn, among the plants or any other place in the garden. The stepping stones are laid down in the earth or on the lawn. The lawn mower can go right over them.

What type of material is used?

These stepping stones are made of high-quality Corten-A steel plate. Corten steel is a metal alloy composed of iron to which copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium have been added. This type of metal has the unique property of forming a very dense oxide skin (rust layer). This makes rusting through impossible. Because of the dense oxide skin, the deeper-lying material is shielded from oxygen, thus oxidation is greatly delayed, while corrosion continues. The Corten steel step tiles are delivered unrusted, i.e. in the gray metallic color. The characteristic brown/orange rust layer forms naturally within two to six months, no treatment is required for this. The Corten steel planter is produced in-house by our own craftsmen. Please note; during the rusting process, the step tile may peel off.
