What is a corten steel fire bowl?

This fire bowl is round in shape, stands on three legs and is made of the robust corten steel. This steel requires little to no maintenance. Another name for Corten steel is weather-resistant steel: weather conditions actually have a positive influence on the material. The corten steel fire bowl is low maintenance. All you have to do after your fired fire is remove the ashes.

What type of material is used?

This fire bowl is manufactured from high-quality Corten-A steel plate. Corten steel is a metal alloy composed of iron to which copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium have been added. This type of metal has the unique property of forming a rust layer (a very dense oxide skin). Rusting through is not possible. This is because the dense oxide skin shields the deeper-lying material from oxygen, greatly slowing oxidation, while corrosion continues. The Corten steel fire bowl is delivered unrusted, i.e. in the gray metal color. The start of the rusting process begins in the first 2 months, no treatment is required for this. Please note; during the rusting process, the firebowl may come off.
