The fire bowl requires little to no maintenance. When the fire is out all you have to do is remove the ashes from the fire bowl. The Detroit fire bowl features a drainage/vent hole.
Material This fire bowl is made of high-quality Corten-A steel plate. This type of metal has the unique property of forming a very dense oxide skin (rust layer). Rusting through is impossible. Because of the dense oxide skin, the deeper lying material is shielded from oxygen, which slows down the oxidation while the corrosion continues. The Corten steel fire bowl is delivered unrusted, in the gray metallic color. The brown/orange rust layer forms within weeks to months, no treatment is required. During the rusting process, the planter may come off. Corten steel is a metal alloy composed of iron and to this are added copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium.
